United made the trip to South Bristol to play Stockwood Wanderers, both sides are locked together in the league so a close games was envisaged. The pitch was soft and bobbly which made ball control something of a lottery.
The opening minutes saw no goal mouth action but on eight minutes a neat move by Nailsea saw good interpassing between Ryan Ford, Stuart Lee and Matt Day who crossed where Nathan Shipway slid in to poke the ball past the home keeper to open the score.
Two minutes later a driven corner by James Springett was met by Nathan Shipway but his header was wide of the mark. The home side then began to get their game together but could not trouble Rob Brown in the Nailsea goal. On 20 minutes a typical run by Stuart Lee ended when his shot was blocked.
The remainder of the half was disjointed as the official ignored the tricky conditions blowing for numerous infringements. The only chance for Nailsea came to Shipway after being put through by Matt Day but his shot was high and wide.
Half Time. Stockwod Wanderers 0 Nailsea United 1
An even half of football with all to play for in the remaining 45 minutes.
The second half started with the ball being fed to Matt Day who was tackled just as he was ready to shoot. On 57 minutes Nailsea failed to clear their lines allowing the home side to equalise with a close range shot.
With 20 minutes remaining United made their first change with Matt Day being replaced by Mike Carroll in attack. Immediately Carroll found Stuart Lee who forced the keeper to parry the ball away to safety. With 15 minutes remaining Sam Olsen gave way to Cameron Henderson on the left side of defence.
Chances were few and far between with Nathan Shipway setting up Stuart Lee on 85 minutes but he could not get the contact he wanted with the shot easily saved by the keeper. As the official was looking at his watch Nathan Shipway sent in a powerful shot from 20 yards which the keeper did well to push over the bar.
Final Score Stockwood Rovers 0 Nailsea United 0
Another away point for Nailsea but the conditions made it impossible for flowing football by either side.
Next week Nailsea are away to Chard Town on Wednesday night before hosting Middlezoy Rovers at The Grove next Saturday. Kick off 2,00pm.
