Derek Hucker tribute

It is with great sorrow for the Club to advise that Derek Hucker, a dedicated player and one of our Club’s most successful first team managers, has sadly passed away. Derek was a hugely competitive player and motivational presence on the field before taking up the first team managerial reins at the Club. He then became the first Nailsea United First Team Manager to lift the Somerset County FA Senior Challenge Cup in 2000-01 before leading the team in 2002-03 to an historic Somerset County Premier League and Cup double, again, the first time the Club had ever achieved these honours.

Many at the Club, past and present will have some wonderful memories of a very genuine football man whose will to win and energy was infectious. The Club’s thoughts are of course very much with Deb, Derek’s partner and a minutes silence will be held at all Nailsea United FC games this coming Saturday (29/10/2016) as a show of respect.

Rest in peace Derek.
